The Berger Organization Announces New Tenant at 570 Broad in Newark
Masters Mates and Pilots to Occupy 4,000 SF
NEWARK, N.J., Aug. 31, 2015 – The International Organization of Masters, Mates and Pilots (MM&P) has leased 4,000 square feet of office space at The Berger Organization's 570 Broad in Newark. The 200,000-square-foot 15-story office building is located at 570 Broad Street.
MM&P is relocating its New Jersey operations from Jersey City. MM&P was created to protect the rights and working conditions of members of the seagoing maritime community. The union represents MM&P members in negotiations with ship owners and supports the efforts of other maritime unions to achieve decent working conditions. Harlan Hollander of Cushman & Wakefield represented MM&P.
“We were in our Jersey City offices for about 30 years and outgrew the space,” said Capt. Don F. Josberger, MM&P’s vice-president/Atlantic Ports. “570 Broad Street’s outstanding location – in proximity to public transportation, Newark Liberty International Airport and the Port Newark–Elizabeth Marine Terminal – is ideal for our organization’s needs. Our new offices are more functional and affordable, and we benefit from 570 Broad’s many on-site amenities and conveniences. The Berger Organization has been wonderful to work with, and we look forward to enjoying a long relationship with this first-class organization.”
“We are thrilled to welcome MM&P to 570 Broad’s growing tenant roster,” said Brendan Berger, vice-president of The Berger Organization. “570 Broad is among the most accessible and affordable office buildings in New Jersey, offering a premier address in one of Newark’s very up-and-coming areas. Tenants here benefit from phenomenal views and beautifully designed office space in a location that’s just steps from numerous business, entertainment and cultural destinations.”
Tenants at 570 Broad enjoy responsive, on-site property management; 24-hour security; four computerized elevators; and a new lobby, new exterior façade and fully modernized restrooms. The property is situated across from Newark’s Washington Square Park and within minutes of routes 21, 1 & 9 and 22; I-280 and I-78; the New Jersey Turnpike; and the Garden State Parkway. Both Newark's Penn and Broad Street Stations are within walking distance, as are the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark Museum, Newark Public Library, Riverfront Stadium and the Prudential Center.
The Berger Organization, a privately owned diversified real estate owner/manager, has been involved in the Newark office and hospitality market for nearly four decades. The company purchased its first property there, the Newark Holiday Inn, on March 3, 1976, from New England Mutual Insurance Co. Since then, its principals’ deep appreciation for Newark’s rich history and personal, unwavering commitments to restoring New Jersey’s largest city to its past brilliance have led to concentrated real estate acquisitions and the employment of more than 300 local residents.
